Trézor.io/start — Getting Started with TreZor®
A friendly, clear step-by-step guide to initialize your TreZor® hardware wallet, secure your recovery, and begin managing crypto safely. Follow these instructions carefully — hardware wallets put you in control.
Before you begin — checklist
Unbox your official device and verify the seal. Always purchase from an authorized seller.
Have a clean, well-lit workspace and a pen and the recovery sheet that came with your device.
Use a trusted computer or modern phone. Avoid public or shared devices for initial setup.
Open the official start page: trezor.io/start and follow on-screen prompts.
Tip: If anything looks tampered with — stop. Contact official support before continuing.
Step 1 — Connect & verify
Plug your TreZor® device into your computer or phone with the supplied cable. On first connection you will see a welcome message on the device screen. Always verify the on-screen fingerprint (if shown) with the website you opened at trezor.io/start.
Power on and choose create new when prompted.
The device will offer to set a PIN. Choose a strong PIN you can remember — not your birthdate or common sequences. Use the device buttons to set it.
Important — the device will now display the recovery words on its screen. These words are your backup.
Never store recovery words digitally (screenshots, cloud notes, email). Write them physically and store them in a safe place.
Step 2 — Create & secure your recovery
Your TreZor® will generate a 12, 18, or 24-word recovery phrase depending on model and settings. This phrase restores access to your funds if the device is lost or damaged.
Write each word on the supplied recovery card. Double-check spelling and order — the sequence matters.
Consider splitting the phrase into two physical locations for redundancy (e.g., home safe + bank deposit box), but do not store all copies together.
For higher security, use a metal backup (steel plate) designed to withstand fire and water.
If anyone asks for your recovery phrase, it is a scam. TreZor® staff will never request your words.
Step 3 — Install Trezor Suite (optional but recommended)
Trezor Suite is the official desktop & web interface for interacting with your device. It streamlines sending/receiving, firmware updates, and app integrations.
Visit the official downloads area from trezor.io/start and choose the Trezor Suite for your OS.
Open the Suite, connect your device, and follow the on-screen flow to pair and confirm device authenticity.
Allow firmware updates only when prompted by the official Suite — firmware keeps your device secure.
Avoid third-party apps unless you understand the risks and verify their authenticity.
Step 4 — Receiving & sending crypto
Once setup is complete you can receive funds to an address displayed by your TreZor® and manage transactions via Trezor Suite or compatible wallets.
To receive: generate a receive address on the Suite and confirm it on your device screen before sharing. Always confirm the address on the device, not just on your computer.
To send: prepare a transaction in Suite, then approve on your device. The device shows transaction details so you can verify destination and amount.
Security best practices
Keep firmware updated — updates patch security and add features.
Use a passphrase (optional) only if you understand how it works — it creates a hidden wallet layer but losing the passphrase means losing funds.
Do not enter your recovery words into any website, extension, or app.
Consider a small hardware wallet for daily use and keep the main holdings in the TreZor with air-gapped storage if needed.
